Mike On the Issues

Many issues and challenges face Suisun City. Mike has taken a hands-on approach to the following issues, tirelessly working to accomplish his goal of a better community through example.

Business

Mike has been a sponsor of the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce for many years. He also serves as the Chairman of the Technology Committee.
Mike is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Solano County.
A long-time member of the Suisun City Business Group, Mike has taken an active role in many aspects of the group. Mike worked diligently to publish the 2005 Suisun City Business Directory, even selling ads and taking many of the photos himself.
Mike is also a member of the Business Issues Committee through the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce.

Safety
Mike has helped to organize an annual Police & Firemen Appreciation Barbeque for our hardworking police and firemen.
Mike recently joined the Police & Fire Boosters Club, to lend his experience in raising funds for these dedicated public servants.
Mike is a member of the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) Commission.

Education & Youth
As Chairman of the Board of the YMCA, Mike has been instrumental in bringing activities to our youth. Mike has also worked with the YMCA and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District to receive Proposition 49 funding for afterschool programs in Suisun.

For several years, Mike has acted as Principal for A Day at local schools. These days spent with teachers and students has shown Mike what is great about our schools and where improvement is needed.
Mike is currently in the process of organizing a Boys & Girls Club for Suisun City.
Mike is the Vice Chairman of Kiwanis of Suisun City, and has participated in such events as leadership training, city beautification projects with the Key Club, and various fundraisers.
Each year Mike sponsors a Little Team in Suisun City.
In 2006 Mike was approached by the Bobby Sox to assist in organizing the National All Star Tournament of Champions. Mike also helped to organize a luncheon for 800 players and family members.

City Events & Activities
Mike pouring wine at Waterfront Festival
Mike has participated in many city events and activities, such as pouring wine during the Waterfront Festival, beer for the AugustFest, and serving hot chocolate to the crowds at Christmas in Old Town.
For several years, Mike has been involved in organizing and working at the annual Suisun City Business Group's fundraising crab feed.
Mike has been a staunch supporter of reviving the Friday Night (Harbor Nights) concerts at the downtown harbor.
Mike coordinated Hospitality Night dinner and two breakfasts for firefighters and their families during the Firemen's Muster in downtown Suisun City.

Travis Air Force Base
Mike is a long-time member of Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee. TRAFC is committed to the support of the men, women, and missions of Travis Air Base.
Mike has acted as Honorary Commander for the 60th Maintenance Operation Squadron. Honorary Commander acts as liaison between the base staff and community interests.

Other
With other Kiwanis, Mike has prepared and served numerous Senior Dinners at the Suisun City Senior Center.
Mike has successfully solicited donations for various community activities and fundraisers.
Mike has donated his time and money for various fundraising golf tournaments for such organizations as Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce, Heather House, Vacaville Christian School, and Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee.
Mike regularly makes donations to a number of charitable organizations in our community and county.
