SUISUN CITY - Plans to put a 28-foot sign telling eastbound drivers on Highway 12 they were approaching Suisun City's waterfront district moved forward Tuesday.

The sign, which is planned to go up at the western end of Spring Street, announces the Suisun City Waterfront District in six-foot letters atop four 17-foot columns. The City Council endorsed the proposal.

Now, the plans for the sign will be refined, construction documents will be drawn up and an estimated cost will be established before the matter goes back before the council later this summer for further consideration.

Both the City Council, which sits as the Suisun City Redevelopment Agency, and waterfront business owners want to see the sign put up to attract more people to the businesses there.
