A strange thing happened on Thursday at the Solano Transportation Authority meeting. Two politicians spoke for the people against local government.
Although many Solano voters may be unaware of this, the Transportation Authority met to put a measure on the ballot this November that would increase every vehicle registration fee by $10. Don Pippo, a rancher from Vacaville who is running for Solano County supervisor in District 4, and Mike Hudson, running for re-election to the Suisun City Council, both spoke out against this fee increase.
Both Hudson and Pippo agreed that the STA should look elsewhere for the money, as a county with an unemployment rate of 13 percent cannot keep supporting extra burdens.
These men and others who spoke out were able to convince enough board members keep this fee increase off the ballet for now.

Responses "It's time to get up,wake up and wise up. On the same token we do need to keep the few who are trying to make a diffrence here in our county. I really do not think we should just vote out everyone just because they are in office, only a fool would do that however it would not take you a long time to find out who votes for every tax increase and spends every dime on boondogles. I have been awake for a little while and noticed that Suisun City is not in the RED. It maybe the only city in California that has not spent every cent it has.Maybe we should find out why.I only can dream that my city would not spend every cent it gets its hands on." - Doris - Oakland, CA
"...How many are aware that Suisun city has had no service cuts, no layoffs, no furloughs, awarded the best streets in Solano County, has a 30% reserve, is revitalizing their downtown and bringing new businesses into Suisun? Seems to me the Suisun city council is actually doing their job, which can't be said for just about every other government body." - Mark - Fairfield, CA |
